Overview

In a tour through Dalmatia you will visit Zadar, a medieval old town that is entirely situated on a peninsula in the center of Adriatic coast. In addition to being a vibrant city, Zadar is also a great base for visiting other coastal cities and national parks.

Zadar – Nin – Šibenik – Krka National park

5 days, 4 nights (4 overnights in Zadar)

About destination:

Dalmatia is a seaside region with more than 1,000 islands separated by massive mountain ranges, which separate it from the Croatian mainland, some of which end up in the sea. In this region there are 3 national parks, 3 nature parks and 5 monuments under the protection of UNESCO (Old City of Dubrovnik, Historic City of Trogir, Historical Complex of Split with the Palace of Diocletian, Stari Grad Plain i Cathedral of Saint James).  Major cities are: Dubrovnik, Hvar, Makarska, Split, Trogir, Šibenik and Zadar and several smaller, and all cities are almost exclusively built of solid stone with cobbled streets that speak of the rich history.

Plan of the trip:

Day 1: Arrival in Zadar

Check in at the airport and transport to the hotel in Zadar. By arriving at the hotel you have some free time until the dinner. Welcome dinner at traditional Zadar restaurant, after dinner return to hotel for overnight stay.
Transfer: from Zemunik Airport to hotel in Zadar 20 kilometers / 30 minutes
Accommodation: Hotel 4 *
Meals: Dinner at the restaurant at 19:00

Day 2: Zadar – Nin

Breakfast at the hotel and a tour of historical sites: the Church of St. Simon with exposed body of the saint, which came to Zadar from Constantinople in the 13th century and Church of St. Mary with the permanent exhibition of the treasures of the church known as the Gold and Silver of Zadar, followed by lunch in a famous restaurant in Zadar. After lunch, we will go to a nearby small historic town set up by the tribe of Liburnians in the 9th century BC. The entire old town of Nin is a cultural site with 4 churches dating from the 6th to the 13th century, Roman temples, museums, ancient port, etc…. After the tour, you’ll have dinner in a restaurant or tavern with a rich gastronomic offer and then you will return to the hotel in Zadar.

Day 3: Private boat trip in Zadar archipelago

After breakfast in the hotel, head to the harbor where starts a boat trip. You will have the boat just for yourself and a friendly skipper at your disposal. Enjoy relaxing cruising around the numerous islands and islets of the Zadar archipelago. The skipper, you will take you to several several islands and you will swim in hidden coves with crystal clear sea. You may discover the unusual heart-shaped island of Galešnjak, swim in the cleanest sea in the Pašman Channel or visit picturesque, fishing town on the island. After the trip return to Zadar and free time.

Day 4: Zadar-Krka National park-Šibenik-Zadar

After breakfast, visit the second most visited Croatian park, the Krka National Park. The Krka National Park is located near the historic town of Šibenik. The national park is dominated by waterfalls, lakes, remains of Roman aqueducts and camps and numerous forts from the 14th century. The Krka River flows through a 75 km long stone canyon and flows into the Adriatic Sea near Šibenik. Krka was proclaimed as a national park in 1985 and is best known for its waterfalls: Skradinski buk, Roški
waterfall, Bilišića buk, Brljanski waterfall, Manojlovac and Miljacka waterfall. The second hydroelectric power plant in the world was built at the foot of Skradinski Buk 2 days after the hydroelectric power plant at Niagara Falls in 1895. After sightseeing, you will visit a nearby farmhouse where you will taste their products and have lunch. After the lunch a short drive to
Šibenik. Šibenik is the oldest native Croatian town on the Adriatic and is located at the mouth of the Krka River. Šibenik’s Cathedral of Saint Jacob was built for over hundred years. It is special in that it is entirely made of stone. It is also unique in that it was created by positioning stone slabs and ribs
without using any binder. After sightseeing of Šibenik return to Zadar and rest till tomorrow.
