The island is 45 km\u00a0long and is the largest island in the Zadar archipelago and the 7th largest in Croatia.<br \/>\n<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.dugiotok.hr\/en\">Dugi otok<\/a> <\/span>has some of the most beautiful natural resources in <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.zadar.hr\/en\">Zadar Region<\/a>.<\/span> Find out what you can see on Dugi otok, which\u00a0tours are organized and some more interesting things about this unique island of the Zadar archipelago.<\/p>\n<h5><strong>WHAT TO SEE?<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>Dugi otok has 12 settlements, and due to its indented coast it hides numerous beaches and bays with clear blue sea. One of the most beautiful beaches in the world, the sandy bay Sakarun, is located in the north of Dugi otok, while in the south is the<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> <a href=\"http:\/\/pp-telascica.hr\/?lang=en\">Tela\u0161\u0107ica Nature Park<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>SAKARUN BEACH<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-50515 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/magic-croatia.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/sakarun-saharun-dugi-otok.jpg\" alt=\"sakarun-saharun-dugi-otok\" width=\"800\" height=\"567\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Sakarun is a large sandy bay on the northwest coast of Dugi otok. The sea is crystal clear and has a specific turquoise color The extremely shallow sea is ideal for families with children. The beach is surrounded by a dense pine forest that provides shade during the summer months. Sakarun is a protected landscape and is member of the association 25 most beautiful beaches in the world.<\/p>\n<p><strong>VELI \u017dAL BEACH<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/magic-croatia.hr\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-50518\"><br \/>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-50521 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/magic-croatia.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/Veli-\u017eal-dugi-otok-1.jpg\" alt=\"Veli-\u017eal-dugi-otok\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Veli \u017dal is another beach on Dugi otok, located on an uninhabited part of the island facing the open sea. The beach is pebbly, in some parts there are limestone rocks, and below the sea surface the ground is covered with fine white sand. The sea is incredibly transparent, and the white sand reflects the light blue color of the sea.<\/p>\n<p><strong>VELI RAT<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-50524 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/magic-croatia.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/Veli-rat-Dugi-otok.jpg\" alt=\"Veli-rat-Dugi-otok\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.dugiotok.hr\/en\/veli-rat\">Veli Rat<\/a> <\/span>is the northernmost place on Dugi otok. On the cape of the island that is situated 3 km from the settlement is the highest lighthouse on the Adriatic. The lighthouse was built in 1849 and is 42 m high. According to stories 10,000 egg yolks were\u00a0used during the construction of the characteristic yellow facade of the lighthouse. A dense pine forest surrounds the lighthouse, and in front are beautiful pebble beaches with crystal clear sea.<\/p>\n<p><strong>GOLUBINKA CAVE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-50527 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/magic-croatia.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/golubinka-dugi-otok.jpg\" alt=\"golubinka-dugi-otok\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Golubinka Cave is located in the Brbi\u0161\u0107ica bay. This unusual cave is a natural phenomenon because it hides a magnificent underwater beach, and due to the opening at the top, light refracts into the interior and illuminates the rock, creating a truly special effect, which you have to experience.<\/p>\n<p><strong>ZMAJEVO OKO (DRAGON\u2032S EYE)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-50530 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/magic-croatia.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/zmajevo-oko-dugi-otok.jpg\" alt=\"zmajevo-oko-dugi-otok\" width=\"800\" height=\"560\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Zmajevo oko is located near the Golubinka cave, on the southwest side of the island. In the carbonate rocks formed a hundred million years ago, there is a sea basin deeply cut into the rocks.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TELA\u0160\u0106ICA NATURE PARK<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-50533 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/magic-croatia.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/telascica-dugi-otok.jpg\" alt=\"telascica-dugi-otok\" width=\"800\" height=\"451\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Tela\u0161\u0107ica is located in the southeastern part of Dugi otok and is the largest and safest natural harbor on the Adriatic. The bay is surrounded by 13 islets, and in 1988 it was declared as a Nature Park. There are three basic phenomena that are the main features of this area: the unique bay Tela\u0161\u0107ica, cliffs which rise up to 161 meters above sea level and descend to a depth of 90 m, and finally the salt lake &#8220;Mir&#8221; with healing properties.<\/p>\n<p><strong>SUNKEN MERCHANT SHIP<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-50536 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/magic-croatia.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/Dugi-otok-ship-sunken-shipwreck.jpg\" alt=\"Dugi-otok-ship-sunken-shipwreck\" width=\"800\" height=\"564\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The sunken ship Michelle is located near Veli Rat. It is an Italian ship that carried cargo and\u00a0stranded in 1984.
