Šibenik Jeep safari takes you through roads of Šibenik hinterland to the second largest military fortress in Europe. You will discover where springs Krka river and visit an enchanting blue-green ‘eye’ of Cetina river. Church of Holly Salvation from the 9th century hides many interesting stories and the lookout with incredible view of the island of Visovac in Krka National Park will leave you speechless.

SIGHTS AND ATTRACTIONS:

Knin once was the capital of Croatian kings and it is known as the Gates of Dalmatia due to its strategic position on a crossroads of important roads between the interior and the sea. Knin fortress is among the largest Croatian fortifications and the second largest military fortification in Europe. The construction of the fortress started in the 9th century and it is 470 m long with about 2 km long defensive walls that enclose the fortress from all sides.

Church of Holly Salvation is the best preserved sacral monument of the early medieval church architecture in Croatia and it is the only church from the 9th century whose tower still stands. Around this church were found more than 1000 old Croatian graves with rich archeological findings.

Visovac viewpoint in Krka National park is a lookout with distinctive view of the canyon and Visovac islet, that looks like a “white rock” in the middle of the lake. In the nearby is the statue of Petar Svačić, the last Croatian national king.

In the morning departure from arranged start point in Šibenik where our guides will welcome you and take you in terrain vehicles along country roads to the first stop – royal town of Knin. You will visit Knin Fortress, hear story about Croatian kings and capture amazing view of the area. After sightseeing the fortress you will drive to the nearby waterfall named Krčić. Macadams roads will take you to the church of Holly Salvation, dating from 9th century.
You will visit beautiful Cetina spring that looks like a transparent pool and it is more than 150 m deep. From there the tour will continue to the lookout in Krka National park from which you will be able to take stunning photographs of Visovac islet situated in the center of the lake. The ride continues through Šibenik hinterlands to Čikola river where you will stop and admire its magnificent canyon.
In the afternoon return to the city of Šibenik.
