ABOUT DESTINATION:

Ribnica is a small village in hinterland of Zadar at the coastline of the Karin sea.

Karinsko more, the sea bay, which is connected to the Novigrad Sea by a narrow canal, is an unavoidable attraction. The White River and the Karišnica River flow into the Karin Sea, and as a result of mixing fresh and sea water, healing mud is formed. The popularity of this area dates back to the distant past, it was inhabited since ancient times, in this area also the Roman city of Corinium, today’s Karin, was founded. Today, a very successful tourism has developed in this area with a lot of diverse content.

Zrmanja is one of our most beautiful rivers, it is also known for its impressive canyon that stretches from Obrovac through the estuary of the river to the Novigrad Sea. This canyon is protected as a significant landscape and stands out for its high cliffs that rise above the river. Zrmanja is a very popular destination, besides its beauty there was also shot a film by the famous creator of Winnetou.

Novigrad is a historic Dalmatian town, located on the coastline of the Novigrad Sea. It was formed on the remains of a 13th century fortress on top of a hill. The fortress Fortica or Castrum novum is located on the hill, hence the name Novigrad. Not far from the area of Novigrad Bay are popular tourist destinations: Velebit Nature Park and Kornati National Park, Krka and Paklenica.

A boat trip along the Zrmanja from Ribnica starts at 9:00 am, from the pier, near the main beach Pisak. Boat ride to the estuary of the Zrmanja takes about half an hour, during the ride to the destination you will pass through the Karin Sea Canal and Novigrad Sea. After reaching the river, you will have a beautiful view of the 200 meter high canyon that surrounds us. While sailing on the river, you will see the location where the film Winnetou was shot and the fortress “Pržunac” about wihich the guide will tell you more during the trip. After a short ride, you will come to the island where you will have a break and you will be able to refresh yourself in the sea. Then around 11:10 you arrive in Novigrad, where you will have free time to look around and drink coffee. On the way back you will have two more swimming breaks, and at 13:30 we will stop by the Kalada restaurant where you will be served lunch. Next is the ride to Ribnica where our trip ends.

What you will do

9:00

Boarding the boat at the pier next to Pisak beach in Ribnica. After boarding, a 30-minute drive through the Karin and Novigrad seas follows and you will reach the point where Zrmanja river flows into the sea.

The boat will cruise through the Zrmanja canyon, during the voyage you will see the canyon and the place where the movie about Winnetu was filmed. After that, you will return to the mouth of the river, where you can refresh yourself by swimming on a small island in the center of Zrmanja river.

Heading towards Novigrad, where you will have free time for sightseeing or drinking coffee.

12:50 - 15:30

On the way back from Novigrad, you will have another break for swimming in the Karin Sea, followed by lunch at the Kalada restaurant at 13:30. and after lunch a final break for swimming and return to Ribnica, where our trip ends at 15:30.
